Jonathan Edward Doyle

The Big Bang

I don’t know what to do with my hands. Dad and a significant other, whose long-held smile
must make his face ache by now. I pick at the cuticles, separating strands of loose skin with
verminous energy, stealing looks at faces. He is speaking, asking questions to prompt a
response, trying to make me appear normal, reasonable. I want to, God I want to.

Do not remember this day. This is just the start. Please, do not remember this day.
