Gossamer Memory
Abandoning my storybook
tall, dark and handsome date,
I slink into the host's California blue pool,
get nudged into conversation
as if in mid-sentence
with a lame-legged nearly faceless man
whose every word
reveals
attaches
pulls
words that even now
haunt,
echo,
chime:
almost.
