Stacey Dye

Immeasurable

The rhythm of life’s
give and take can’t be
measured like a metronome
evenly ticking off beats to
classical music.

Nor can it be measured
like a tug of war, the rope
of human kindness pulled
so taut that neither side
benefits from the other.

Rather it should be measured
like two children sharing a swing,
eager to push the other to new heights
not keeping count.
